Unwelcome Shores. Black Refugees in America is an ethnographic study of the Liberian refugee community in Staten Island, New York, that sheds light on the racialization of Black refugees and the anti-Black racism they have experienced at every step of their migration journey. It is one of the first books that explicitly investigates the role that race has played in the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
